BABY NEWS

OK So lets face it, I tried to figure out a way I could 

possibly wait to tell my friends near and far, but that 

is just not going to happen.  We are just too excited..

So yes, if you did not figure it out from the Title, we 

are PREGNANT!!!!

We really did not expect for it to happen this fast, 

but we are more than excited..

We have a long way to go, but we are enjoying every 

minute so far.  Even I am enjoying almost every minute.  

I have not been sick yet!  I am holding out hope that I am 

not.  My sisters were both really sick, but my mother 

was not for all 5 of us, so here's to hoping.  The only 

thing I have been having to deal with, is the crazy 

fatigue.  A regular day at work has now turned into 

what feels like 15 hour days. I am sure we will keep 

you updated regularly...

I am heading to Utah to visit my sisters Amie and Bess 

in October, so they will give me the ins and outs of 

what I can look forward to and not look forward to.  

Thankfully I have free long distance for the US because 

they might get sick of me calling them.

So for now Adam keeps me healthy and kisses the little 

baby inside me.  He is such a wonderful husband and 

person in so many ways.  I am so excited to share this 

experience with him.

So today is when it all starts..

My am married to a man who loves football.

Thankfully for both of us, I too enjoy sports, though I was

never a Pro Football fan until last year after we went to a 

Patriots gave live at Gillette Stadium (with awesome seats).

Jazzy who also "loves football" (or at least wearing just the

little jersey around) showed us today her enthusiasum for

the sport.

This is my first time trying to upload a video to the blog and

we are on a Mac and things do not seem to work as easily as 

they should sometimes.

I LOVE BEING MARRIED

OK so I promise this is my last post tonight.

I just had to tell everyone how much I love my 

husband.  This is not to make up for having a good

laugh at his expense, it is really because he truly is

just that wonderful. 

I know there are adjustments to being married, and

for me the hardest (like most people) is having someone

in what used to be only my space.  The only place I don't

seem to have an issue with is how wonderful it is to be

able to wake up to a man I know loves me every morning.

What better way to start the morning and end the day..

So last week I had been rescheduled to nights at work.

So Adam would get home from work about 530 ish and I

would go into work at 530.  It certainly did not make the

first full week back to work for both of us very exciting.

We both really missed going to bed at the same time 

together, and seeing how I did not get off work until 2AM

he was not waiting for me.

We made the best of it though..

One night I decided to leave him a little note in magnets 

on the stove.. which simply read LOVE U

Terrible With Food but Wonderful with Love

So my husband is one of the most "intelligent" book smart guys 

that I know, and aside from his charming personality, it was one 

of the reasons I fell for him from our first conversation.  

However, as the relationship progressed I realized that he was 

lacking perhaps a few skills.  I easily blame most things on his 

being an only child.. We have some good laughs at his expense, 

but he is a great sport. They seem to lately revolve around food.

Saturday night my friends Stephanie and Deborah and I went out

to the Opera Bistro and had a great evening.  My husband who 

was already uptown for an appointment joined us about an hour 

into the meal.  Stephanie had the Fillet Mignon which came 

with too much sauce for her delicate stomach.. So we all 

tried some.. 

The conversation went like this..

Jenny:  That is very tasty Stephanie, Adam try some.

Adam:  OK!  Wow! That is really delicious Sheep..

Jenny:  Thats funny and proceeds to laugh thinking he was being

              funny... 

Adam:  No really isn't fillet Mignon, Sheep.

Jenny:  Laughing too hard but realizing not everyone has had 

             fillet mignon, so really common mistake :)

Adam:  I thought it tasted a lot like beef

Jenny:  Still laughing extremely hard... 

He is such a great sport..

He has never knowingly had fillet mignon

Number 2

Tonight I decided to make Ham and scalloped Potatoes

Adam had a meeting after work and came home to all

the smells and said he is hungry and looking forward to

ham, scallops and potatoes..  I just giggled and thought it

was easily understood how he would think that...

Putting aside his perhaps small knowledge in the kitchen

thankfully he is not a picky eater and would have waffles

every night for dinner if I so choose to make them.

much skills as of yet.. Just having fun

'Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend,
Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth
records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable
lessons as: Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why
the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair;
and maybe it was my fault

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies
(don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies
(adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned
but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a
6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a
classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash
after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly
student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for
doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in
disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get
parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a
student; but could not inform parents when a student became
pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became
businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their
victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend
yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar
could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman
failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled
a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and
Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; his son,
Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;

So I normally do not pass along (or receive them) these type of

posts, but I was reading some of them from my friends and I

thought it would be neat (for lack of a better word) to see what

memories people had of us together.

IPHONE

So I got an IPHONE 3G...

I debated but mostly for only one reason.

I have my cell phone through Rogers, and Adam has his

through Alliant.   WELL - Rogers is the only carrier in Canada

who is going to be carrying IPHONE's for a while and well as

much as I wanted an IPHONE (and I do love her) Adam I am

sure wanted one more.. We are waiting for the family plans to

come out and for him to find someone who would like to take

over his amazing plan with Alliant he has had for YEARS.

SO for the time being, I am nice and let him play on mine.

I love it... I really should not love it as much as I do... but I do.

ONE MONTH

It is amazing how fast time goes by.

I cannot believe it is only one more month, 30 days, 

before Adam and I get married.  Some days I cannot

contain my excitement and the other mornings I am still

sleeping and as soon as I wake up my excitement returns.

Things seem to be flowing along nicely.  A couple hick ups 

but all in all I am a very calm bride to be and feel like I have

a decent hold on the planning.  Today the RSVP's are due.

I actually am quite happy that I will not have track too many

people down to get their meal choices.  

Adam is gone during the weeks this whole month of July

finishing his Masters, and though it has been hard to have

him away, I have plenty to keep me busy with the planning

and my own work.  We are both looking very forward to the

Honeymoon in Hawaii.  We are staying where they call it

"Paradise in an Hawaiian-Style Fishing Town" .  

I am also very excited to have my sisters home with me and

to now have them stand with at the ceremony.  Sadly my

brother will not be able to get home as it is a long way from

Korea to get here..  I have in my head just how things will go

and I am sure there will be a few things which will not go 

quite as smoothly, but regardless of how things go the end 

result will be just as I want it, me, married to my best friend.

Photobooth and Parents

On Thursday Adam and I had our parents over for the first

dinner. No, its not the first dinner we have had in our house,

but its the first time our parents have met. People might think

that only living 50 minutes from my parents and 2 minutes from

Adam's parents, that we would be able to get together plenty

often. However, with our busy lives that has not happened

until now. Things went great... The conversation never stopped

and the dinner though nothing fancy was tasty on the BBQ.

Just before leaving Adam wanted to show the Photobooth

pictures to the parents. Lets just say we all had a good laugh

at it. Tears rolling down my parents faces and I type of good

laugh..

Coming Together

So MY house (technically it is still my house) ...

With much help from Adam is coming together.

It is looking more and more like home.. and I am enjoying

more and more coming home.

I am very proud of a few things..

1.  We put up my clothes line - I'll admit I was a dork in my 

personal excitement of a clothes line.

2.  I put in a garden.  I planted peas, beans (green and yellow)

Carrots, cucumbers, turnip, spinach, lettuce and pumpkins.

We shall see how it grows, but as you can tell from my photo

below something is growing great :) 

3.  We got a BBQ - I got it nice and dirty tonight cooking some

yummy lean sirloin burgers...

4.  My first Rose is blooming.  REAL rose.  Not wild roses.. They

are hard to grow around here but I thought I would try and to 

my surprise there is a beautiful orange rose blooming.. How did

they know Orange is my favourite colour?   

5.  My dining room chairs.  These things were not the easier to 

get my hands on.   Ikea - Gilbert chairs.  In the fall when Adam

and I went to Boston to a Patriots game we hit up Ikea down 

there and they were all out.  Shipping them was out of the

question due to shipping charges.  SO, when I was in Utah I 

checked and amazingly they had some.  I brought six chairs

back with me on my flights as my checked baggage.  Thankfully

the packaging was compact enough and light enough...

So here is a picture of the Living room.  The corner I am standing

in to take the photo is where the IMac is sitting.

My wonderful father made us the shelves.. We just need to 

figure out what to do with the middle shelves under the TV..

The other photos is of course showing off my love for my chairs.

The Dining Room.. We really like this room.. The sun is always 

very bright in the afternoon and evening...

So all in all things are coming together..

    

I "heart" our new IMac

First off let me tell you how different it is to talk in 

WE instead of ME...

So Adam and I did it.

We bought the new IMac.  She arrived sooner than we thought 

and though the FedEx guy missed us at home, we were quick to

drive across town in rush hour traffic to pick it up.  We were

actually right behind a FedEx truck and contemplated waving 

him/her down to see if they had our parcel in there.

We are so excited.

Of course we did the first thing anyone does when they get their

new IMac... We played on PhotoBooth.  Too much fun.

So here she is...

We are still learning all about her, but it was love at first "Isight"

UTAH

Granted I have been home from my Utah visit for about
a week and a half, but I had to say how enjoyable my
visit was... I got to finally see my new sweet little niece
Hazel...  She loved me :)  It had been over a year since I had

been down to Utah, and it was a much overdo trip.

I had a great time with my 7 nieces and nephews.

Went to Lagoon with Samuel, Alina, Cameron and

Cray-Cray .. They had a fun time watching their Aunt

Jenny scream her head off on the roller coasters.

I am a terrible aunt and really only had my camera out

the first day..

Henri was a bit shy with me at first, seeing how long it has

been and  how young he was when he last saw me.  

However, he warmed up quickly which was fun.  

I must say he made me tear up when I was leaving.

I spent some time down in Springville with Bess and Micah

and the kids, and then up to Roy with Amie and Gary and 

the kids.   When Henri realized I was not coming back with

them to Springville he asked me if I could come because

"I always misses you Jenny".. Lets just say I melted...

I wish both sisters would just figure out some way to come

live closer to me.  I miss them and the kids way too much.

Its amazing how much he looks like Bess.... 

THE END

I would assume most of you who actually read my blog, know
I have been working what I thought would be a great way to
have more time with my fiance and friends, turned out to
just be a disaster for myself and my mind and body and sleep.
I am not referring to some recent addiction to drugs.. Even
WORSE.. I have been on 6 months of over night shifts.
Going to work at 930 pm and getting off at 6am has not been
my best friend. I sleep - but never all that great and the
weekends when I am off I drag my feet the whole time trying
to adjust my body enough to peel myself out of my most
comfortable bed for church when my body knows full well I
should be sleeping soundly. I'm not sure if I have learned
anything new in Sunday School the past while and I think the
children in Primary wondered why I was not my overly
happy self to be with them teaching Sharing Time... (No
worries I was still very much perky and happy to spend my
time with them).

All this to say that tonight (and I suppose there are benefits
like times when it is not busy and I can add a blog entry)
Is my last over night. I was extremely excited I had to share
my excitement... SO, seeing how I love Ice-cream. I decided
what better way to celebrate than picking up a Dairy Queen
Ice cream cake?






















I will sadly admit mine did not have a TNMT on it..
Instead it was full of pretty lavender flowers.
My co-workers were more than happy to share in my cake
and my enthusiasum for my finaly night.
I have had fun working with the over night crews who for
the most part pick this schedule because it works for them.
I however, miss my day friends.
So next week I am off to Utah for a quick visit to my
family and to be a part of my dear friend Paul's wedding
to his beautiful bride to be Lindsey... then back to work
during the day time hours..
So not only will I be super happy to be on a normal
schedule.. I think my fiance (I KNOW) he will be more
than happy... My Cat - though he sleeps all the time anyway.
My running partner and Matron of Honour Stephanie -
I've been good the past while going at 6am for a runs at
the nature park, but it will be so much nicer to do so when
I'm rested and not dreaming of sleep...
My Sunday school teacher so I might be more attentive..
God, because lets face it my prayers after my over night
shifts ended many times with me waking up with a kink in
my neck asleep...
My neighbours, because I might be motivated more to
dig the weeds out of my flowers and finally getting around to
painting my front door..
Last but not least, my stomach.. Its been confused for 6
months now when it is suppose to be hungry and when it is
not...
To all of you who work the "graveyard" shift and do not wish
to.. My deepest Sympathy
To all of you who enjoy working the shift - You are nuts..

80 Days to Go

So I thought I was doing really well on planning the wedding
and thinking I was taking care of a lot of things...
THEN I went onto my "theknot" website where I had been
updating the guest list and there was an alert of 80 days to
go and a check list of things I should have already finished or
been working on. I was behind (according to them) on 88
things... That seemed like a lot of things to be behind on when
I thought Adam and I were on top of things...
Do brides really try to figure out what they are doing with their
hair three months before???
Has another out there ever purchased Wedding insurance?
What would that be for???? In a severe case of cold feet, does
one of us get all our money back we put into the wedding???

So either I am doing a really bad job at planning this wedding
or a really great job because I don't feel stressed about anything.
I am a few unanswered questions in my head..
For instance how the music is going to be dealt with at the
reception for the dance.... Do we hire a full on DJ or do we just
have a fantastic play list going on the lap top???
Just what specific types of Candy am I going to have at the
candy bar (so those of you coming ((and even if you are not
and have a fun suggestion...)) if you have a favourite you
might want to give me your reasons behind why I should
pick your favourite candy)
I have questions about what the third Thai dish option will be..
We know for sure Pad Thai, Matsuman Curry and we have
not decided on the third, we are thinking Mango Chicken...
We can't seem to make up our mind about what type of cake
to have....

SO maybe I'm not as far ahead as I thought I was...

My Fiance Adam - For many reasons, but for doing my
dishes last night when I went to work and for leaving me
this cute note (we played a lot of scrabble together when
we first starting dating)











Sunshine - As in this picture, so does my cat. Everytime
I got out of my chair from reading, he was quickly up in
it laying in the sun. (yes my deck need a paint job bad)











My new niece Hazel - Yes I've not seen her in person yet
but that does not stop me from loving her just the same.

Movie Review

So lately as the winter storms raise outside, I have found myself
watching more and more movies.
So I am going to make a plug for a few movies which did not get
a lot of press coverage but are indeed wonderful films which make
you laugh, perhaps cry (depending on your level of weepiness) and
most importantly for me (most times) think deeply and inward.

1. The Painted Veil
The movie is the slowest paced of them but a
beautiful story and beautiful scenery. For anyone who is an
Edward Norton fan, this movie does not fall short in his great
acting. If you do not shed some tears in this movie, you might want
to go to the doctor to make sure you are still alive.
The closing few minutes features an old French Folk Song which
I was highly disappointed they did not display the subtitles for
others, as I found knowing the words added deeply to the final
minutes of the movie. Here is the version used in the movie
A la Claire Fontaine (it was hard to find a copy that did not have
the clip from the movie so the quality is not perfect but does not
at least show the final minutes. I would suggest not looking at
the pictures before seeing the movie but just listening to this
sweet song)

2. The Nines
Warning - Do not go and read the reports about this movie as
learning too much about the movie would definitely spoil the
ending and amazing WOW factor of this movie.
Directed by John August and starring Ryan Renolds, this movie
had Adam and I laughing a lot and thinking a lot. I brilliant,
brilliant movie. It was released at the Sundance Film festival
and well received down there, but never got a lot of hype from
the mainstream. Which is a down right shame.
When we finished watching the movie, we were both wanting
to start it right away from the beginning.. it is just that interesting
and brilliant.

3. Lars and the Real Girl
Plot outline - A delusional young guy strikes up an
unconventional relationship with a doll he finds on the Internet.
How could that ever turn out to be a bad movie??
Ryan Gosling stars in this sweet, funny, thoughful movie that I
personally think everyone should see. Throw away the idea that
its an odd concept, there is nothing kinky going on with this
Internet Doll. The movie was nominated for two Oscars and is a
film to warm the heart, and redefines the edge of "normal".
I loved this movie...

Half Price

So I was on a sportswear website trying to find a new pair of
running shoes and I noticed the sale area. As any woman
would do, I quickly clicked the link and up popped all the sale
products. To my shock and horror a lot of the sale items
were on New England Patriots "items". I sort of laughed, and
then realized that this was the first time I had really gotten
into Football, even took an amazing trip down to the Gillette
stadium for the home opener and had a wonderful time.
Adam is a HUGE Patriots fan, ask him about it sometime
and he will tell you he has not missed watching a game in
something like 10 years. So as I was watching the Superbowl
(and yes I am late on this post) I was shocked, but mostly to
realize I was seriously disappointed and that somewhere
during the season I became a Patriots fan.




















I suppose now I have to tuck away the pink hoodie I got
while at the Stadium and wait for the shock to wear off.
Though I may becoming a Patriots fan, I am not ready to
take the riducule of being a Patriots fan for this season..
If I take too much more I just might have to switch to
GreenBay and side with my father. After all, Brady may
be young and attractive... But Favre will always be Favre.

Limits

Elbert Hubbard once said ~ Every man is a damn fool
for at least five minutes every day; wisdom consists
in not exceeding the limit.
Today I have completely failed in not exceeding my limit.
It is presently 4am in the morning (and if the fact that I
just wrote 4am followed by in the morning clues you in
to how tired I might just be) and I am still at work. It
really should not be a surprise I am still at work with my
new, wonderfully terrible schedule in this 24 hour office I
have the utmost pleasure of working in. What might
come to a surprise to some of you is that I have been here
in this mildly comfortable, seriously ugly, blue chair since
1pm today.. So, by the time I leave at 6am, I will have
been at work for 17 hours. No, my company does not
require that I slave away at work for a constant 17 hours,
it is actually one of the perks (which is what I call it when I
have am not working what we call a double) of my job that
I can work these long days with out extra pay, for extra
days off with pay later on.. basically shift trading around.
You might all be asking where really is the lack of wisdom
in my working now for time off later -
That folks is not my failure - it would be the fact that
at some point during the day I decided it would be a good
idea to keep my plans to head to the gym for my 6AM
workout, which I will keep as I am meeting people there.
Which brings me to another quote:

Man Bag, Man Purse, Murse???

Which one is it really???

So my boyfriend Adam has been talking about how we as
women have the advantage when it comes to the "purse" and
how he used to be jealous of the purse and the many different
colours and styles and how lately he feels as though he has too
many things to carry around. He has of late, gone for the more
slightly fitted style which has also made the carrying of certain
articles more difficult. So I have been in search of a nice
"Man bag". We have found a nice one in a local store for a lovely
price of 159.99 which is a beautiful leather over the shoulder bag
which is actually long enough for his tall "figure". Anyone have
ideas for a nice man bag where Adam can keep his "things"??
Thus far he has listed for the carrying around items...
...wallet
...cell phone
...pen
...pencil
...sticky note pad (um yeah he is a teacher.. not sure if that is a
valid excuse or if he just likes to make random lists of things to do)
...his new camera - to be ever ready for a great shot
...water bottle
...keys
...a magazine or book (for the just in case he has a moment
to read moment)
...ipod
...gum
...and one more reason he wants one.. So he does not have to carry
home his laptopish bag from school after work when he does not
really need it, so not to make his coworkers annoyed that he
finished all his "work" at work.

One second thought, with all those things, maybe he should look
into getting a messenger bag instead. Not as pretty but a lot
cheaper for me.
