Desperate Times, Creative Measures

Sometimes when you have two screaming babies you need to be creative...

Meet Baby K'Tan over Baby Bjorn (Ruby in back and Charlotte next to me)

Surprisingly it worked really well and was really comfortable for me, and for them because they were both asleep faster than I thought they would be...

The Art of two babies

I do not have many photos of the babies and I together, mostly because it is quite hard to take a photo of yourself while holding two babies :)
They are growing like crazy and getting SO long..
Holding two happy babies works...
Holding two unhappy babies does not!
(don't mind me in the photos..(Mommy getting ready seems to be last on the list!)

Oh how I LOVE Babylegs!!

I really thought these were just way too big, but they are meant to look like that as they are able to grow into them and wear them for years to come! Be careful when buying them, they are addictive! I never order from their website, but wait for them to come up on sale on www.babysteals.com

Our girls are growing!!

OK so I know I am certainly not the first woman to struggle with her post pregnancy body, but I just wanted to vent a little bit here as it seems quite unfair to me at the moment. Most of you would remember that my pregnancy was brutal at the beginning throwing up for months many times a day.. Result - well I lost 30 pounds in the first 4 months of prenancy and in doing so really only got to my pre pregnancy weight about 2 weeks before the girls came 10 weeks early. What that means is I really was only a couple pounds heavier pregnant with twins... WOW that sounds so wonderful doesn't it??? Well what has happened after having the babies is that my body was in some type of starvation mode and now that I am able to eat and keep food down I am putting weight on. ARGH.. SOOOO frustrating to be post babies and know I should be loosing baby weight but am going in the other direction because my body is storing it up in case what happened, happens again.

SO, my questions are

1. Did anything like this happen to any of you and how did you deal with it???

2. What did you use for motivation to get you moving and try to get your body back??

3. Any favourite exercises to help?

4. Favourite healthy snack perhaps with some flavour?

The pool is open so I am going to try to get into it for some laps like I have a couple of times this past week.. Swimming is amazing exercise as I have discovered. Finding time is the hard part with twins.. Plus I am feeling like I am constantly hungry as I am "nursing" two babies and I am suppose to take in an extra 1000 calories a day to produce enough...

So maybe I am just needing to vent, but I think I am looking more for advice and support. I get so frustrated some days because my clothes don't fit right and nothing seems to fit across the chest... LIKE NOTHING...I know its only been 12 weeks since the twins were taken out and then I had to recover from the C-section and then I spent most of my time at the NICU and then we moved...but it is summer and we have a pool, and I almost cried getting dressed this morning...

I have been loving watching the little girls grow out of the premie stage and into their newborn stage. We are not certain of their exact weight, but we did put them on the WII fit board with us to weigh them and it looks as though they are 8 pounds plus each. I do not know how long they are except they are long.. However, I look at them and though I would rather have had a normal pregnancy and went to term, I can't imagine having both of those 8 pound babies in me.. YIKES!

Ruby's eyes are progressing and the spots on her retinas have almost disappeared which is FANTASTIC news all around. I Just can't believe how fast these little bundles of joy (most of the time) are growing... Check out their little tiny fingers when they were first born and now 3 months (on the 19th of June) later how much bigger they are...

Ruby now...

The water is warm enough, the air is warm enough and we are going to love having a pool this summer. We purchased some swim diapers for the girls (though somehow did not purchase bathing suits yet) and decided we would try them out in the pool and see if they like it. Well, they really did not like it that much.. If we cuddled them close to us they were OK with it, but you could tell they were not loving it. They are quite young still so we will give them more time. We will probably wait until they love their bath time to get them in the pool. How old were your children when you started putting them in water, and how old were they when they started liking the water???

Most of you who read the blog live too far away, but for those of you who do not... The pool is open and an open invitation still stands!!

Family shot (and yes I can't believe I am posting a photo of me in a bathing suit so early post twins)

We officially closed on our new house and our old house on June 1st! We have been in the house for a couple of weeks since the 18th of May (Its his grandmothers house we purchased and with the twins coming home they let us move in early) and the house is coming along room by room.
The first room to be finished, (mostly before we even moved in) was the nursery. We are still missing two shelves to put up our anamalz toys. Check them out if you have never seen them before, they are really cute!
So here are a couple of photos of the girls room, I will post photos of the before and after of the rest of the house as we finish it.
This is the room before the changes, it is actually one of the more "normal" least "grannie" rooms in the house before we changed things!

Its amazing how much I love these little girls.. They are starting to get more personality, and though they are not quite 2 weeks with an adjusted age, they are growing like crazy and are both over 7 pounds now. Considering they started at 2-9 and 3-5 at their lowest, they have come a long way in such a short time!

Charlotte already knows how to fold her hands to pray :)
