Confessions of an Emotional Eater

Yes... I am admitting it.. I am an EMOTIONAL EATER!
Some of you might ask what is that really!
Emotional eating is eating for reasons other than hunger instead of the physical symptom of hunger initiating the eating, an emotion triggers the eating!
I never realized how much emotional eating was a part of my life and never thought I was an emotional eater until the twins were born.  It has become so abundantly clear that emotional eating is something I do on a regular basis or try not to do on  a regular basis.
Being an emotional eater is clearly not what any of us want to be.
I do not want to have a really bad day with the twins and get in the car to put them to sleep and stop at a fast food drive through because I can actually enjoy a few moments of peace because they fell asleep and the food seems to taste so much better because they are quiet and because it was not cooked by me, cleaned up by me, or healthy for me.
I am more than certain I was an emotional eater before the twins were born, but it seems to be that they for the good or bad, have brought the worst out of me and my emotional eating.

Do I know why I emotionally eat?  No, I really do not know at all why I do, and I wonder if that is going to be a huge problem in trying to overcome being an emotional eater, I guess time will tell!  Being free from emotional eating takes time – it can take a LOT of time. For some people their emotional attachment to food is less severe and they can be done with the issue in months. For others, like myself, I have no idea, but it really was not until just recently that I truly realized I was an emotional eater.

So I am going to start blogging about my love/hate relationship with food and my steps to becoming healthier and not allowing food to control any part of my life...
I think I am going to start another blog with my ups and downs and successes to share with you on my journey to being a healthier me!

What is your relationship with food?

Tuesdays Tune- Christmas Songs

Since Christmas is coming up so very quickly I thought I would share a couple Christmas Songs...
First a fellow Canadian Favourite - Sarah McLachlan - Wintersong

Second since my brother in law who is in the Air Force is serving away from his family this Christmas, I thought I would put this up in tribute to all the Soldiers from all around the world who are away from their families at this special time of year.  This one makes me cry every time I listen to the song!

Oh and yes, for any of you that picked it up,
Kanye West is featured in this song...
Ah! Jared Leto eyes still get me every time!

I must Remember

I must remember that no matter how hard some of my days are with the babies (and some of them really are) I am so blessed to have them in my life and to have Heavenly Father trust me with their sweet little spirits.  They are such a blessing in my life, and I did not know my heart and soul was capable of loving someone as much as I love them.

SUPER CUTE GIVEAWAY

Though I am not creative enough to come up with the ability to sew these..
Someone thankfully is..

http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/2009/11/chubby-baby-car-seat-cover-guest.html

SOOOOOO CUTE

Vacation from life PLEASE

Have you ever beat a toy moose against the wall and felt better for doing it, or even laughed when each time you hit the wall the little squeaker would squeak?  No, well I did yesterday, and lets be honest all this week I could have used the same technique and perhaps felt a little better.

The twins are teething, both have colds and both won't let me leave their line of sight without crying.
I can't go anywhere without total meltdowns it seems, and I feel like I am loosing myself.  Add to all of it, my wonderful time of the month and I am feeling like I am going to loose my mind AGAIN!
Don't get me wrong... I LOVE my babies and they are wonderful and precious and oh so very cute, but when I am wanting nothing more than to sit down and eat breakfast and all I get are two screaming babies because they can't see mom anymore, that LOVE is still there, but somehow gets moved aside to almost be replaced by YOU ARE MAKING ME CRAZY love.

Most mothers of twins tell me that it gets easier when they are one....others tell me when they are two...
I need someone to tell me when they are 9 months because 4 more months of this, and I might truly be an insane woman by the end of it.

Cute girls shots, and yes I am alive!

I know I have been such a slacker lately with my blog, but I have been super busy with, well life having twins but also with my Scentsy business!  It has been a lot of fun for me getting out in the evenings and socializing with other women and not just babies.  Plus, lets be honest being as busy as I have been is going to make a SUPER nice Christmas bonus.

The snow which came down last night has finally made things feel a little more like Christmas, and so should these little photos!  Charlotte is the first photo, than Ruby!

FIRST Night away from my BABIES

I SURVIVED
Actually, I had a lot of fun, and though I missed the girls A LOT, I knew they were in excellent hands with Sharon and Stephanie. I did not even call, but sent a text after their bed time to make sure they were down OK.

Where was I?

My husband is in the Executive for the Teachers Union and they had meetings and a Christmas social last night. It was a lovely time and a wonderful dinner and socializing. The night ended with a Yankee Gift Swap, and my husband and I were very happy with our gifts of ITunes gift cards, and were happy that our SCENTSY products were well enjoyed, though I do not think someone enjoyed having their bottle of scotch taken away for some Scentsy products, but his wife was happy about it!

All in all it was a wonderful night and a great chance for my husband and I to spend some much needed alone time. This also was a trial run to see if I might be able to survive 36 hours instead of 24 hour so we can go away for a night to Halifax over the Christmas holidays to get away, as well as see AVATAR in IMAX.

So who knows what will happen, but I now understand those mothers who had a very hard time leaving their children for a night. Really though, it is not that I thought they would have a super hard time with it! Let's face it for most of us, it is because we mothers have the hard time with it.

How did your first night away from your baby/babies go???

Tuesday Tunes - Blue Rodeo

Yes.. Blue Rodeo!!
They have been around for A LONG time, but they are another great little Canadian gem (In my opinion at least) and no matter how many years go by, I always love listening to the voice of Jim Cuddy

I do not think I have more memories associated with Blue Rodeo (good and bad) than I do with any other band...

This is from their new album just released called The Things we Left Behind and the song is called "One Light Left in Heaven"

A WEEK OF EVERYTHING AND NOTHING

So it has been a long week for some reason..
I missed Tuesday Tunes and Wordless Wednesday...

SCENTSY - The Hottest New Thing

SCENTSY - A STYLE THAT FITS ANYWHERE!

So just last week I signed up to be a Scentsy consultant. Scentsy is brand new to Canada and has enourmous success in the United States. I'm excited to be a part of it here! I am super excited about it and so many people LOVE LOVE LOVE the product... I decided I wanted to try to do something on the side to see if I can be a stay at home Mom longer than we were planning.  These are way better than the jar candles we always seem to have on, and sometimes have been forgotten to be blown out.  Scentsy’s unique warmers use a low-watt bulb to slowly melt our specially formulated, highly fragrant wax, maximizing the fragrance time of each Scentsy Bar or Scentsy Brick. With no flame, soot, smoke or lead to worry about, the Scentsy system is a safe way to enjoy more than 80 delightful Scentsy fragrances.  There also aren't any phthalates in the wax bars just fragrence oils!!!

So check out my site and the Fall/Winter catalogue...these are great ideas for Christmas presents for people and there is something for everyone!  Check out my site to look at the catalog. There are also great hostess benefits for hosting a Scentsy party!  I am planning to host my first party soon and in time for delivery for Christmas.

Jazzy Turns 3

We had a wonderful birthday party for Jazzy complete with balloons, friends, cake and gifts. We had a blast decorating the pumpkins and were grateful we decided not to carve them but decorate the outsides instead.

Everyone had a great time and thankfully everything went smoothly without any meltdowns from anyone, including the babies!

OH, and in case you are wondering.. You can actually purchase insurance on Hungry Hungry Hippo, in case you break it or the parts for 15 months! Yeah, I know, one of the oddest offers for insurance we have every had!

Tuesday Tunes - 30 Seconds to Mars

Any "My So Called Life" fans out there?

I stumbled upon 30 Seconds to Mars four or five years ago... and I really loved their sound, and used a lot of their music to run to as it pumped me up and is fast paced..
The voice sounded familiar but it was not until I looked at one of their music videos that I realized who the lead singer is...
JARED LETO!!
Yes the beautiful eyes boy from "My So Called Life" with Claire Danes.

This is the acoustic version of their song "The Kill"

Their sound is not for everyone but I do not think there is a woman who could deny the beauty of those baby blues...

THURSDAY THOUGHT

Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously.... Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us.

Jane Austen (1775 - 1817), Pride and Prejudice, 1811

...
On a side note, what woman does not adore Mr Darcy? I know I certainly do, don't you??

Tuesday Tunes - The Watchmen

No not the movie, the BAND from Winnipeg!

They have a lot of great music and I started listening to them in high school but sad for everyone they are no longer together. However, it is another highly underrated Canadian band and another common favourite of my husband and I.

Hope you enjoy.. (I could not find a youtube video of the song so I made one and put it on an overlay of the New Moon trailer)

Family Friday -My Giggling Babies video

The video of my twins laughing at each other and sometimes at me makes me laugh every time I watch it. (just so you know I put on a music station in the background for the babies, they love music... though I can't say I always love the songs.. including the one playing)

THURSDAY THOUGHT

So I am getting a theme going here..
I am going to try to post everyday to my blog and each day is going to have a theme to it. Mostly so it makes it easier for me to write my blog and hopefully fun for others to read!
Thursday are going to be thoughts..either from others or myself.
Today one of my favourite authors..

C.S. Lewis

"A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell."

Any thoughts????

Tuesday Tunes - WINTERSLEEP

So I think that on Tuesdays I am going to share a song with all of you...Honestly I have no idea how many people actually read my blog because I know I don't always leave comments when I read others posts!!

First up a shout out to a "local" band from Halifax, WINTERSLEEP
This band is my husbands favourite and I honestly knew little of them before we met but now I adore most of their music. This first song is a bit more mellow than most of their songs but I love the easy flow of the music...

Wintersleep - Weighty Ghost

Please tell me what you think....

The Twins' Baby Blessing

So today we had the twins' baby blessing, and it went as smoothly as we could have hoped for. The girls slept REALLY well last night and today they did not even cry once during either blessing. Of course I cried a little bit but it was actually quite beautiful to see the men up there and our sweet little girls.

Charlotte wore the blessing dress that her cousin Harriett wore, and Ruby wore her cousin Henris' dress (yes he had a dress). They looked beautiful with their little hand knit white sweaters and the dresses.

We got a family photo but to be honest I don't want to post it. I have a hard time these days with photos and we were in a rush this morning so I never got to do my hair..
However, here is the family and this special day!

Happy Half Birthday Babies

It is hard to believe that our little girls are 6 months old today. I have to keep telling myself that really their adjusted age is 3 1/2 months being born so early but it still has been 6 months since I was "rushed" over from my regular fetal assessment and the decision was made to take them out...

They are growing so fast and it amazes me how much I love them. I know people always say that but it really is true. My heart burst with love for them and my head burst with trying to keep my patience with two of them both screaming at the same time.. However, when it is all said and done..all it takes is a smile from them.

They are developing their own little personalities!
Charlotte is our giggle girl.. She loves to laugh and smile and giggle.
Ruby also loves to smile and giggle but she is more reserved and keeps it only for when mommy is really funny. Charlotte, you just have to look at her like you "might" be trying to make her smile and she laughs!

All I can say, "Is mine is a life which is truly blessed"!

Welcome Back Brady... FOOTBALL

I know I have FOOTBALL in caps for the title and I do have fun watching the Patriots games with my husband but aside from those games you won't find me watching any other football games. We went to a game last year... No wait.. the year before when Brady was not hurt and had a blast...

How cute are my girls surprising their daddy with the Patriots outfits ready to cheer for the game. Too bad they were well asleep before they even started warming up.

Allow me to Vent AGAIN

OK I know I should stop venting and I am not really sure what has gotten into me lately, but I seem to be easily annoyed by people who just... well... are just... you will see.

SO the other morning I dropped my husband off at work which is not in our usual morning routine as he takes the bus to work and I decided since we were out and packed up in the car that I would head out to Walmart and pick up a few things we needed.
I got there before the store opened at 8 (which I have never experienced before) so I drove around for a few extra minutes keeping the babies asleep and decided to pull in a few minutes early and get the babies into the stroller. So I pull into a parking spot designated for parents with babies or pregnant women. (On a side note I love these parking spaces) So getting out of the car this other car pulls into a parking spot beside me and out get two 55-60 year old husband and wife. Yes, the parked in a spot for new moms and pregnant women. I was looking at them and the sign and them and the sign and finally I could not hold my tongue any longer. I asked them quite politely if they realized the parked in a space which is designated for new parents or pregnant women??? They looked me straight in the eye and said yes! Here is where I normally do not say anything but perhaps now that I am a new mother I felt entitled to say something. I responded by saying, "You DO realize that the parking space right next to the one you parked in is available and NOT designated for new parents or pregnant women and that the couple of extra steps I doubt would have done you any harm??"

Yes I KNOW what you are thinking... not Jenny how could you say that...
You are all thinking... Seriously the parking space next to it was available... YES YES YES it was.. in face, the entire parking lot was almost empty...

ARGH... why must people do these things to annoy me????

Seeing Double (YES another Photo)

I am amazed everyday by how fast our little girls are growing.
They are starting to discover the things they like and dislike more.
One thing they LOVE right now is being outside, which is wonderful but will suck for me when winter get here. Today they just laid on a blanket with their feet in the grass for over an hour, and anyone with twins (or one baby for that matter) knows how rare and precious having one to sit on the grass and read with them can be.

They looked so cute out there I just had to get a photo...

Though Charlotte is still a little heavier than Ruby, they are certainly without a question *not that there ever was one* identical twin girls!

Wordless Wednesday (Thursday when you have twins)

Just a moment to VENT

OK I know that this is silly of me to get annoyed with and to be bothered by, but I AM.
It seems to happen every time the girls are crying when I am out. Granted I have two babies and maybe they feel bad for me.. but does anyone else get annoyed by people trying to tell you how to take care of your baby if they are crying???
Today I was out at Walmart getting some slippers for my 3 year old step daughter and Ruby was asleep and woke up crying tired still...like major freak out, but I know that cry, it is the I woke up and want to go back to sleep cry...

SO this woman came up to me (first off tries to touch the babies which I HATE.. do not touch a sleeping baby) and tells me she thinks my baby is hungry. I politely tell her that she is not hungry but tired as she just woke up from what should be a longer nap.
She continues to say that she has 6 children and she knows what a tired cry is, and that my baby is hungry... I again politely as I could tell her that she is not hungry that she ate less than an hour ago and that she is just tired and wants me to keep the stroller moving...She continues on about being hungry and says she will pick her up if I am going to ignore her...ARGH I start trying to stroll away and she just kept saying she thinks she is hungry....

Granted this has happened more than once, but not to that extreme, but more people saying do you need my help to calm your babies.... I politely decline and say they are just tired, or just fussy..

What do you guys do if or when this happens to you???

Maybe I am overreacting with being really bothered by it!

Babies First Rain Storm

So we just got back from Cap Pele about 2 hours from where we live on a mini vacation. Actually it was a work retreat for my husband and he was in meetings part of the day and then there were groups dinners and socializing. All in all, it was a great time and the babies were excellent for us. We had our own lovely Chalet and the only downside was the HEAT. It has been an extremely HOT AND HUMID week. We are talking about 44Celcius with the humidity.. VERY HOT and the girls were doing well but it was still hot for them. (NO AC).. So one afternoon we had a thundershower pass through and we decided to cool off the girls in the warm rain. It only lasted about 5 minutes at the most but it was enough time for them to cool down and for me to get some cute shots.
